Playland is one of two amusement parks in America that wears the prestigious title of “National
Historic Landmark.” It’s a well-deserved honor, as this extraordinary place is a marvel of
architectural and landscape design that has entertained and delighted crowds for nearly 100
years. This richly illustrated digital slide presentation by Barbara Davis will show how Playland
Park was conceived and developed in an unbelievable amount of time and with a pioneering
design. The novel entertainment, enduring rides and amazing attractions will also be featured, as
well as the celebrities who have joined in on the park’s fun over the year.

Barbara Davis is the Co-Director of the Westchester County Historical Society and the City
Historian of New Rochelle. Since 1993 she has served on the Westchester County Historic
Preservation Advisory Committee, which advises on all county-owned historically significant
properties, including Playland!
