Part of the Pirating with PTAC series
Heave ho, ye scallywags, and join us for an afternoon of rollicking rhythm and maritime melody! In this workshop your “shantyman” Sharon Wolff, archivist and musician to landlubbers, will guide you through the rich history and cultural significance of sea shanties — the work songs of sailors that once echoed across the oceans.
Enjoy a live performance of sea songs, raise your voice in lively singalongs, and even try your hand at writing your very own shanty verses. Whether you're a music lover, history buff, or pirate in disguise, this session promises a wave of fun and inspiration.
No musical experience necessary — just bring your best yo ho ho (maybe keep the rum at home…) and the willingness to learn and play!
