Event Details
30 years ago, there were no American colleges that accepted
less than 10% of their applicants. Today, 30 do, and dozens
more are below 15%, with international applicants taking up
a larger and larger percentage of those spots. Moreover, kids
are applying to more and more schools, so there is no reason
to believe those numbers will get any less scary in the
future.
Keith Berman, President of Options for College, who
worked in the Harvard and Yale admissions offices and has
been advising schools and students since 2005 in private
practice, will answer the question “What now?” His talk
will look at the state of admission, discussing how his
advisees emerged successful, and even looking at how to
actually get some ROI out of tuition.
He will also share what the process looks and feels like as a
parent, having had a daughter survive and thrive through the
most competitive year in admissions history, providing tips
on how to support your children without letting applications
consume you. He will leave ample time for questions in a
world where mania exists around every corner, whether via
secret high school “commits pages” or the misinformation
circus on social media.
